Moodle is an online learning framework that allows teachers to set courses and students to work through the course with appropriate controls & functionality to make a proffessional learning environment.

John from Stratton ABC is working with schools in his area to take advantage of his initiative and he has commitment from a couple of schools to work with it already.

Lets see if this project gets going, it’s certainly got legs, all it needs is the time & input from interested people to make it happen.

Students who graduate from our school will have a decent capability for sustainability, such as how to grow rice and vegetables, repair clothes,basic tooling skills,good social responsibility,combined with internationally compatible reading, writing, math and science skills.

Panyaden School is built from earth and bamboo and all activities are based on environmental mindfulness.

This project started with a request for a blog. That was not a problem. Next was an English website and following that being established, it was a fairly straightforward process to create a Thai language version of the same skeleton.

As with all charities, the organisation depends on support from sponsors and John is pleading with everyone he meets to consider raising money for the children. He has collection boxes, an on line store trying to raise funds and now he is trying a new venture.

A business directory that is offered to sponsoring companies, it’s a means of income and besides that it offers the community something in return.

Their aims are to reduce the overpopulation of stray cats and dogs on the island through sterilization programs, provide medical care to all sick and injured animals pets or strays and educate the local population on animal care.

In 2005, during the construction boom after the tsunami, workers from all over Thailand came to help rebuild what had been destroyed. Many brought their dogs, and when the building was complete they left them behind. Tourists took pity over the dogs and began feeding them. This resulted in a high survival and reproduction rate causing a completely different kind of boom. That of starvation, disease, abuse and injuries. Something had to be done…

Homeless dogs are part of our social problem and we want to help to make the situation better for dogs and for the communities they live in. There are so many neglected dogs living on the streets, sick and starving. Many puppies have been dumped on the streets because people can not care for them and sometimes sick dogs are dumped because people cannot afford the veterinary care.

Santisook Dogs (previously called Doi Saket Dog shelter) was started in March 2009 by a group of dog loving Thai people who are determined to help homeless dogs in Chiang Mai. There are more than 50 dogs being cared for in our shelter. We rescue homeless dogs that are sick or injured in accidents. We have rescued mothers with puppies from the side of the road who are in danger of being killed by a car. We care for them and feed them so they can have a better life. We provide shelter, food and medical care for them. But our main objective is sterilization in order to reduce the population of homeless dogs in Chiang Mai.

This school (Huay Sai School near Lamphun) is the role model, others are to follow and John has his work cut out to encourage the English teachers at the schools to drive the project he has initiated.
